Looking like an active week here for us in the upper Midwest. I will be wrapping up maintenance on the Jeep today from home before heading out for a couple of solid 3 days of chasing and Live Streaming.
High winds are moving through central Minnesota this morning with gusts up to 36 miles per hour. Just before sunrise, the high winds and debris caused a power line to sort out along county road 75 or Division. The road was shut down for about an hour until Xcel Energy could shut the power off and dispatch crews to repair the line.

In Avon, MN which is just outside of the Saint Cloud, MN metro area, a house was consumed by fire and is a total loss. The fire is suspected as starting in the garage and then moved to consume the entire structure. No injuries are reported and reports at the scene are that everyone did get out of the home safely.
The fire was a multiple alarm fire with mutual aid from the Albany, MN and Saint Joseph, MN fire departments.
Update Per officials at the scene, the house is a triplex apartment or multi family complex.

The blizzard warning continues for southern Minnesota as the high winds are blowing around the snow. Combined with the glare ice on the road surface, travel is not advised.

It was a very warm start for the Saint Paul Winter Carnival as the Ice Carving competition started this evening in Rice Park.
While the temps near 40 during the overnight were great for people coming out to watch the competitors setting up and carving the giant ice blocks, the temps were not good for the ice.
Several of the ice carvings that were already completed around the park had already began to melt.

As the cold weather moves in from Canada, the polar temps make their first stop on their way to the Twin Cities in the city of Saint Cloud, MN. Just after noon on Saturday, temps in the city of Saint Cloud were being reported at -2F with a Wind Chill of -21F.
Just twelve hour’s later, the temp has dropped to -12F

Winter weather moved back into central Minnesota just to the north west of the Twin Cities metro area before the big chill this weekend.
